The Rosslare ferry to France now arrives in and departs from Cherbourg,
not Le Havre. Also the route is no longer served by LD Lines but is now operated
by Celtic Link Ferries. This is good news as it enables Celtic Link to build on
the growing popularity of this ferry crossing from Ireland to France. The shorter
crossings time from Rosslare to Cherbourg, 17 hours compared to 22 hours to Le Havre,
means that crossing frequencies can be increased from 2 sailings weekly to 6 sailings
every week, three in each direction.
Celtic Link offers this direct ferry crossing between Rosslare
and Cherbourg. The ship is the Norman Voyager which sails in both directions, Rosslare
to Cherbourg and Cherbourg to Rosslare. The crossing takes 17 hours. Ships depart
from Rosslare Saturday late afternoon and Tuesday and Thursday evenings, arriving
Cherbourg the following day. The return crossing from Cherbourg to Rosslare departs
Wednesday and Friday late evening and Sunday afternoon, again arriving Rosslare
the evening of the following day.

The Norman Voyager can carry 800 passengers in 110 modern and comfortable cabins,
including two 2 berth cabins for disabled passengers. The Norman Voyager has a restaurant
and and a pub, offering different food and ambience.. They offer different atmosphere
and food. Le Bistro du Norman is a self-service restaurant with a wide range of
cuisine available, while the Shamrock Pub recreates the atmosphere of a traditional
Irish pub with comfortable armchairs and a great choice of beers, and other alcoholic
and non-alcoholic drinks. The ship also has an on-board shop, the Wave Shop. In
addition there's a cinema and wifi internet access.
Cherbourg is situated at the top of the Carentan peninsula in North-west France
and is connected to the French autoroute network by the N13 dual carriageway to
Caen 120 km away, or about 1 and a half hour's drive. Cherbourg itself has an attractive
old quarter on the western side of town, with a good selection of hotels, bars and
restaurants. Cherbourg is ideally situated for exploring Normandy and Brittany and
as a starting point for accessing the rest of France. Paris is about three and a
half hours away, while it takes about 4 hours to reach Angers in the Loire or Quiberon
in Brittany.
Rosslare is conveniently situated in the South East of Ireland, about midway
between Dublin and Cork, easily accessible along the main coast road. Rosslare is
a pleasant port and seaside resort, and the surrounding County of Wexford has lovely
coastal and inland scenery, while Wexford itself is well worth a visit.
