LD Lines Ferries - Rosslare Cherbourg ferry crossings

Rosslare Cherbourg ferries with LD Lines.
Please note that from September 19th 2009 the Rosslare ferry to
France arrives in and departs from Cherbourg, not Le Havre. This is
good news as it enables LD Lines to build on the growing popularity of their
ferry crossings from Ireland to France. The shorter crossings time from Rosslare
to Cherbourg, 17 hours compared to 22 hours to Le Havre, means that crossing
frequencies can be increased from 2 sailings weekly to 6 sailings every week,
three in each direction.
Cherbourg is situated at the top of the Carentan peninsula in North-west
France and is connected to the French autoroute network by the N13 dual
carriageway to Caen 120 km away, or about 1 and a half hour's drive. Cherbourg
itself has an attractive old quarter on the western side of town, with a good
selection of hotels, bars and restaurants. Cherbourg is ideally situated for
exploring Normandy and Brittany and as a starting point for accessing the rest
of France. Paris is about three and a half hours away, while it takes about
4 hours to reach Angers in the Loire or Quiberon in Brittany.
